About Me
I am currently earning my living doing life coaching, organizational development, and management coaching. My goal in all three of these activities is to support the creation and development of healthy, sustainable organizations and lives.
My path to this work has been an eclectic one; a bringing together of work experience, community service and personal transitions. The information below is intended to give you some sense of who I am and why I do what I do.
Work History: Values-Based Work
I have worked as a pre-school teacher, a receptionist and intake worker for a fuel assistance program, the executive director of the Center for Popular Economics (an educational organization), the executive director of the Community Development Network (a nonprofit association of community development corporations), a researcher and writer, an organizational development consultant, and now a life work coach. All of this work has allowed me, in different ways, to nurture people as individuals and in groups as they take on challenges, learn and grow. Most of the work also has allowed me to help build organizations that do good work.
My paid work, until I started consulting in 2003, was entirely in the nonprofit sector. That choice grew out of my passion for making the world a better place, particularly for the people in our society who have the fewest choices. It also came from my desire to spend my days with people whose work is strongly based in their values and passions. In my organizational development consulting and job coaching, I work primarily with nonprofits and other groups (businesses, government agencies) that have a strong commitment to working with integrity and making the world a better place. My approach to coaching is also rooted in the assumption that our life choices should be based strongly in our values.
